I welcome you to Sonora and Barretta Gardens Inn. I am originally from Sweden (Astrid) and have lived in Sweden, Australia, and in California for the past 35+ years. I chose Sonora as my home because every time I visited from the Bay Area, I found something new and exciting to do, from wine tasting, golfing, antique hunting, frog jumping, music festivals, gold panning, swimming, skiing, fishing or hiking in Yosemite National Park. I know you will enjoy the gold country as much as I do and am sure that our guests from Europe and those from the United States will enjoy the opportunity to meet one another and share the experience.
We look forward to your visit and will welcome you in Swedish, German, French, Italian or in English.
We serve a full breakfast in our formal dining room or on our screened porch (overlooking our terraced gardens) and offer early morning coffee/tea in the parlour before a sit down breakfast at 9am.
We also serve afternoon refreshments in our main parlour, giving you the chance to meet with others or simply relax after a day of activities.
We are GREEN!
At Barretta Gardens Inn we compost all our scraps, e.g. eggshell, fruit and vegetable peels, tea bags coffee grounds etc. to produce “Black Gold” for our extensive gardens. We recycle all other materials like paper and plastic in separate bags and have planted fruit trees that will provide fresh fruit for our guests. We serve organic teas and coffee. Our rooms are cleaned with natural products from our local health food store.
We have our own chickens to help fertilize our gardens and we trade scraps for eggs 😉
